In 1996, a group of industry, community leaders, human resource managers and plant managers shared a common concern about the lack of relevant training available for the workforce in Northwest Arkansas. Together they created Northwest Arkansas Industries for Education {dba Business and Industry Training/BIT), a not-for-profit consortium of area businesses and industries that shared resources and created customized, skill-based training to suit a wide range of needs.

Scholarships Available

Are you interested in a scholarship to upskill, reskill or learn a new skill? BIT partnership with Single Parent Scholarship Fund NWA provides opportunities for NWA.

Changing Lives By Encouraging Personal Success. Single Parent Selected For Financial Assistance Will Meet The Following Criteria:

  • Is a single parent (see definition below)

  • Resident of Benton, Carroll, Madison, or Washington County

  • A legal United States resident or a resident with DACA status

  • Has a high school diploma or GED

  • Has low to moderate income, typically not more than 250% of federal poverty guidelines

  • Enrolled in or plans to enroll in a program of study at an approved institution

  • Has completed or is in the process of completing the FAFSA (as applicable*)

  • Maintains a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0*

*For purposes of the SPSFNWA Program, “single parent” is defined as: a family with child(ren) under the age of 18 and/or a severely disabled adult child over 18, headed by a parent who is widowed or divorced and not remarried, or by a parent who has never married and is caring for the children without assistance of another parenting partner in the home.

THE ONLINE APPLICATION AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED AND UPLOADED BY THE DEADLINE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A SCHOLARSHIP.

Credentialing And Workforce Development Scholarships. Applicants are able to receive up to $625 credit per course.

Courses offered for the scholarship are:

  • Electrical Systems 1-2

  • Motor Controls 1-4

  • PLCs 1-5, Mechanical Drives 1-5

  • Thermal Process Controls 1-2

  • Robotics 1-2

  • Pneumatics and Hydraulics 1-2
